At Zorah, we provide annual physicals for all adults which are the foundation of preventive care!
An annual physical exam gives your physician an opportunity to assess your current health status, review your medical history and identify any potential health risks. It gives your provider the opportunity to discuss any family history of diseases like heart disease, diabetes, or cancer.
This discussion allows your physician to take proactive steps to reduce any potential risks by ordering labs and other screening tests. Even if you are feeling well, it is recommended to come in for yearly annual physicals so that your doctor can provide preventive screening and make health recommendations to lower your risk of chronic diseases which are different for every individual based on your medical history, family history, and lifestyle.
Annual physicals can help increase the chances that your doctor catches a disease in the early stages, when it may be easier to treat. During your exam, your doctor will check your height and weight and measure your vital signs such as your blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and do a complete physical exam.
Your doctor will also order lab tests to check for particular issue or health condition. Your doctor will also let you know what screenings you need to have or consider. Preparing for an annual physical may seem like a task, but these visits should not be skipped. Their importance should never be overlooked as doing so can be risky.
